Description: Software Developer – UI/Javascript Applications

Arbor Networks is looking for full-time web application developers to help build modern, rich-client user interfaces for our web-based network security applications. Ideal candidates would be experienced bringing interaction and visibility into real-time data-driven applications.

As a member of our engineering team, you will develop and test web applications for scalable network security products. Candidates will work closely with the product owner and designers to turn mockups and prototypes into working code. This job involves working closely with our design team as we figure out how a feature and its related interactions will take shape.

Through our agile process, you’ll write code to query our back-end data stores and bring a modern user interface to life and also gauge usability of existing features to make constructive changes. We have a strong culture of performing peer reviews of work, both with designs and code implementations, so collaboration skills are key.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 3-5 years experience creating and developing user interfaces in a web environment

  • Experience with javascript-based client-side web frameworks like angular.js and React
  • Development experience using a server-side scripting language such as PHP, Python, or Ruby
  • Strong knowledge of standards-based development with HTML5, CSS3, Ajax, Javascript
  • Ability to work independently and in small teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with software development best practices including unit testing, code reviews, performance telemetry, and continuous integration
  • A driving sense of craftsmanship, quality, and ownership

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Ruby on Rails web application framework
  • Experience with node.js as a build and test environment for client-side applications
  • Experience creating data visualizations using graphing libraries such as d3.js
  • Understanding of application layer network protocols
  • Experience with agile development methodologies (SCRUM, TDD, etc.)
  • Experience writing regular expressions
  • Experience writing shell scripts and Python scripts
  • Experience developing under Linux
  • Familiar with concepts from computer security
  • Understanding of, or background using, high-speed networking devices such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, or deep packet inspection (DPI) systems
